Preserving the Gracie Tradition on Maui Since 2000

Maui Jiu-Jitsu Academy proudly follows the lineage of Grandmaster Helio Gracie. We specialize in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Street Self-Defense, Competition and No-Gi Training. The Maui Jiu Jitsu platform is being created by Master Luis Heredia a 7th degree ( Coral Belt)  offering programs for all ages and experience levels.  Located in Haiku on the North Side of the beautiful Island of Maui HI.  The Maui JJ academy is one of the first and longest-standing Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools in Hawaii. Established in 2000, we’re very proud to be  sharing  Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and it’s traditions  with our community.

Master Heredia is a very experienced and versatile teacher , his knowledge comes from competing in major tournaments to countless seminars all over the globe. However his thru passion is for the SELF DEFENSE part of the program , where he stands  far above the most teachers but also trying to keep alive and strong  Helio Gracie and his entire family legacy. 

Master Heredia is a native of Rio de Janeiro , Brazil , he was invited by his Master and mentor Rickson Gracie to move to the USA  in 1988 when he was just only purple belt , making him officially the first Brazilian Purple Belt in the US.

Lived in Los Angeles for 13 years assisting and helping and promoting Jiu Jitsu over the Rickson Gracie  JJ Academy. In the year 2000 he relocated to Maui , HI and helped again to introduce Gracie Jiu Jitsu in the island !
