My Promise
-
I promise not to use martial arts to harm others, except when absolutely necessary for self-defense or to uphold justice.
-
I will never teach the Academy’s art to outsiders. I will only teach others within the Academy, and only with my instructor’s permission.
-
I will always maintain and respect the good name of the Academy.
-
I will uphold a high standard of moral conduct and never bring disrepute to the Academy’s name.
Code of Conduct
-
Progress is never made alone. Help others improve and succeed. We are a strong community, united by shared goals. As you grow, so does your team. Iron sharpens iron.
-
Check your ego at the door. Ego is the enemy. Stay humble. There is no shame in tapping out—you will tap and be tapped often.
-
Control your temper. Always exercise self-control, both inside and outside the Academy.
-
Maintain hygiene. Keep fingernails and toenails short and trimmed.
-
Arrive early and be open-minded. Come to class prepared to learn.
-
Wear a clean uniform. Your gi must be washed after every use.
-
Show respect on and off the mat. Bow or shake hands when entering, leaving, and before sparring. Acknowledge your instructor and training partners.
-
Use respectful language. Profanity is not allowed in the Academy.
-
Lead by example. Lower belts look up to senior students—be someone worth following.
-
Take pride in your school. Keep the Academy clean at all times.
-
Sparring is learning, not competition. There are no winners or losers—only growth. Your partner is not an opponent but a teammate helping you improve.
-
Pay attention during instruction. Do not talk while techniques are being demonstrated. Raise your hand if you have questions.
-
Respect different beliefs. Avoid discussing politics or religion within the Academy.
-
Be an ambassador of the Academy. Your actions outside reflect on all of us—act with integrity and good manners.
Hygiene Rules
-
Jiu-Jitsu is a close-contact sport. Please maintain good personal hygiene at all times.
-
Your gi must be clean. A dirty gi is a sign of disrespect.
-
Wash and dry your uniform after every class.
-
Use hand sanitizer before and after training.
-
Always wear shoes or slippers when off the mats, especially in restrooms and outdoors.
-
Walking outside barefoot while attending class is not allowed.
-
Feet must be clean before stepping on the mats. No dirty feet permitted.
-
No shoes, food, or drinks are allowed on the mat.
-
Report any minor injuries, health issues, or skin conditions immediately.
-
No animals are allowed inside the Academy.
-
Every student shares the responsibility of keeping the Academy clean and safe at all times.
